On May 16, 2026, Global French Education welcomed 16 participants to an open French class at 1 Bartley Bull Pkwy, Brampton, ON L6W 3T7. The session was intended for beginners and learners exploring practical French.

One communication pattern, two settings

Food and shopping gave this small-group class two practical settings for similar communication needs. Asking about an item, stating what you wanted, checking a price and thanking someone were connected through guided practice. The focus was on expressions that could move between situations with a change of vocabulary.

Putting the language into practice

With 16 participants, the class provided a smaller setting for scenario work. Comparing the two themes made the reusable parts of an exchange easier to identify. A greeting and polite request remain useful whether the next word names a drink, a food item or something needed from a shop.

A practice idea to take further

Make a short shopping list and a short café order. Use Je voudrais… for both, then add a quantity where appropriate. Check that your request includes the item and enough information for the other person to respond.

A short exercise is most useful when you return to it. Revisit the exchange on another day, change one detail and notice what you can say without checking your notes. Use any remaining hesitation to choose a question for your next lesson.
