Version 1.0, in force from the day the website launches.
1. Scope
These terms apply to all courses and services provided by Global French Education Inc. (“we”): small-group classes, one-on-one lessons, bundles, corporate training, mock exams and placement tests.
By enrolling, you confirm that you have read and agree to these terms.
2. Enrolment and contract
- Enrolment is complete when payment is made and you have received our written confirmation.
- A verbal reservation is not an enrolment. A seat is held for up to 48 hours.
- Students must be 18 or older; under 18, a parent or guardian signs for them.
3. Prices and payment
All prices are in Canadian dollars, before 13% HST, which is added at checkout. There is no registration fee. We accept credit card and Interac e-Transfer; no cash.
| Item | Rule |
|---|---|
| Single course | 50% before it starts, 50% mid-course |
| Bundles | Monthly instalments, no fee |
| One-on-one | 10-hour pack ($910, valid 6 months), paid in one payment |
| Late payment | If a payment is more than 7 days late, the seat is released and what has been paid is handled under section 7 |
| Textbook | $84 per level, non-refundable once handed out |
| Receipt | Issued within 5 business days of each payment |
Trial lesson: the trial lesson ($35) is credited toward tuition if you enrol.
Price lock: the price confirmed at enrolment does not change during the course. When you renew for the next half of the same level (for example A1.1 then A1.2), the price is locked at enrolment.
Mock exams: $42 each; enrolled students get one free mock exam per month. Mock exams already taken are not refunded.
4. Groups, changes and cancellations
Group size: a group opens at 4 enrolled students and has a maximum of 8.
Too few students: if the group still has fewer than 4 students 3 days before the start, you choose:
- a full refund; or
- a transfer to another group, or a switch to one-on-one lessons by paying the difference.
Change of teacher: the same level shares the same handouts and schedule, so changing teacher does not change the content. If a teacher must be replaced because of illness, visa or departure, we tell you in advance and pass on your assessment record.
Schedule changes: if the venue, a holiday or force majeure requires a schedule change, we give 7 days’ notice; if the new schedule does not work for you, you may move to another group once, free of charge.
Cancellation by us: if we decide to stop a course, hours not yet taught are refunded in full, with no fee.
5. Absences and make-up lessons
| Situation | Treatment |
|---|---|
| Absence reported at least 24 hours ahead | One make-up lesson (same type of class in the same period, or a recording) |
| Absence not reported | Counts as attended, no make-up |
| Arriving more than 30 minutes late | Counts as an absence |
| Class cancelled by us | Make-up or postponement, your choice |
Make-up validity: 60 days after the course ends; after that it lapses.
6. Group transfer, deferral and assignment
- Group transfer: to another group at the same level, once, free of charge. For a different level, the placement test decides and the price difference is refunded or charged.
- Deferral: one deferral request, up to 3 months (6 months for a bundle). The seat in the original group is not kept during the deferral.
- Assignment: a course cannot be transferred to another person.
7. Refunds
Principle: we refund the hours not attended, minus a fee.
| When | Refund |
|---|---|
| More than 7 days before the start | Full refund, no fee |
| In the last 7 days before the start | $70 withheld, the rest refunded |
| After the start | Hours not attended, at the single-course price, minus a $70 fee |
| One third of the course or more attended | No refund |
Non-refundable: the textbook once handed out, and mock exams already taken.
Bundles: if you leave a bundle part-way, the hours attended are recalculated at single-course prices, and the bundle discount is not refunded.
Special case: if your course is ended because of a serious breach of section 9, the remaining hours are not refunded.
8. Cooling-off period
Within 10 days of signing, if you have attended no class, you get a full refund with no conditions.
9. Student conduct
We may end a course, without refund of the remaining hours, in these cases:
- harassing, discriminating against or threatening a teacher or another student
- being drunk or using prohibited substances in class
- recording or sharing class content without permission (see section 10)
- giving false enrolment information or using someone else’s identity
In other cases we give one written warning first, then end the course.
10. Materials and intellectual property
- Handouts, exercise banks and mock-exam materials belong to us and are for the personal use of enrolled students only.
- It is forbidden to record, transcribe, photograph for distribution, resell or use them for teaching.
- In case of breach, the course ends without refund; we reserve the right to seek compensation if we suffer a loss.
11. No guarantee of exam results
We do not guarantee any exam score or level. What we do commit to: delivering the class hours as agreed, marking mock exams to the official criteria, and telling you honestly where you stand before results come out.
We are not an authorised test centre: we help with registration and offer an accompaniment service to partner test centres. See the Exams page.
12. Limitation of liability
- We are not responsible for problems caused by third parties (exam organizers, test centres, payment providers), but we will help you communicate with them.
- In case of force majeure (natural disaster, public health emergency, government order), classes are postponed or moved online; this is not a ground for a refund.
- Our liability is limited to the amount you actually paid for the course concerned.
13. Disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario. We try to settle disputes by discussion first; failing that, the courts of Ontario have jurisdiction.
14. Changes to the terms
These terms may be updated; a change does not affect contracts already made. Significant changes are sent by email to enrolled students and published 30 days before they take effect.
