On December 13, 2025, Global French Education welcomed 32 participants to an open French class at 1 Bartley Bull Pkwy, Brampton, ON L6W 3T7. The session was intended for beginners and learners exploring practical French.

Language for keeping in touch

Seasonal gatherings gave this class a setting for greetings, invitations, thanks and good wishes. Participants also worked on describing simple holiday plans. The theme connected several everyday communication needs: beginning a conversation, suggesting something to another person and sharing what you expect to do.

Putting the language into practice

The interactive format placed those expressions in short social exchanges. It was an opportunity to revisit familiar language with a different purpose, using the season to make the message specific. A brief invitation, for example, needs enough information for the listener to understand the activity and decide how to respond.

A practice idea to take further

Try Vous voulez prendre un café samedi ? Then practise a polite acceptance and refusal: Oui, avec plaisir and Merci, mais je ne suis pas disponible. Both are useful parts of an invitation.

A short exercise is most useful when you return to it. Revisit the exchange on another day, change one detail and notice what you can say without checking your notes. Use any remaining hesitation to choose a question for your next lesson.
