On July 12, 2025, Global French Education welcomed 20 participants to an open French class at 1 Bartley Bull Pkwy, Brampton, ON L6W 3T7. The session was intended for beginners and learners exploring practical French.
Putting directions on the map
Maps and routes gave this travel class a visual framework. Learners worked on asking where a place was, identifying directions and saying where they wanted to go. Connecting prepositions and direction words with a route helped make the vocabulary concrete: each expression corresponded to a movement or a recognizable point on a map.

Putting the language into practice
The theme also brought listening into the foreground. A successful request for directions depends on recognizing enough of the answer to take the next step. Pairing an oral instruction with a visible route offers a practical way to check understanding before trying the same task with fewer visual supports.
A practice idea to take further
On a simple map, ask Où est la gare ? Have a partner use à gauche, à droite and tout droit to guide you. Trace the route as you listen, then switch roles.
A short exercise is most useful when you return to it. Revisit the exchange on another day, change one detail and notice what you can say without checking your notes. Use any remaining hesitation to choose a question for your next lesson.
