On November 16, 2024, Global French Education welcomed 27 participants to an open French class at 1 Bartley Bull Pkwy, Brampton, ON L6W 3T7. The session was intended for beginners and learners exploring practical French.

Colour, size and price in context

Shopping brought together vocabulary that beginners often study separately: colours, quantities, prices and sizes. During this open class, the teacher connected those words with polite questions about an item. The purpose was practical: describe what you are looking for, find out whether it is available and understand the information needed to make a choice.

Putting the language into practice

Role play took the exchange through asking, selecting, paying and thanking. Moving through those stages helped place individual questions inside a coherent interaction. It also showed why a small change in vocabulary can be useful: a familiar question about one item can be adapted to another size, colour or quantity.

A practice idea to take further

Choose an everyday item and practise Vous avez ce modèle en bleu ? Follow with Quel est le prix ? Change the colour or item while keeping the questions clear and polite.

A short exercise is most useful when you return to it. Revisit the exchange on another day, change one detail and notice what you can say without checking your notes. Use any remaining hesitation to choose a question for your next lesson.
