On September 14, 2024, Global French Education welcomed 18 participants to an open French class at 1 Bartley Bull Pkwy, Brampton, ON L6W 3T7. The session was intended for beginners and learners exploring practical French.
Dates, introductions and a learning routine
The September beginner session connected a new learning routine with practical classroom language. Introducing yourself, saying a date and asking about a course or a time gave participants a useful starting set of expressions. The topics were relevant both to people returning to study and to those fitting language learning around work.
Putting the language into practice
The class also addressed how to practise listening and speaking at the beginner stage. Reading an expression is a useful first contact, but saying it aloud and recognizing it in someone else’s speech require their own practice. Connecting those skills early can help learners choose a routine that goes beyond reviewing notes.

A practice idea to take further
Say the day and date aloud, then ask À quelle heure commence le cours ? Practise a reply with two different times. This turns calendar vocabulary into an exchange you can actually use.
A short exercise is most useful when you return to it. Revisit the exchange on another day, change one detail and notice what you can say without checking your notes. Use any remaining hesitation to choose a question for your next lesson.
