On April 13, 2024, Global French Education welcomed 35 participants to an open French class at 1 Bartley Bull Pkwy, Brampton, ON L6W 3T7. The session was intended for beginners and learners exploring practical French.
From written letters to spoken phrases
Pronunciation was the starting point for this beginner session. The teacher introduced sound patterns, silent letters and examples of liaison, helping participants notice why a French phrase may sound different from its written form. The work connected careful listening with spoken practice, instead of treating pronunciation as a list of rules to memorize before communicating.
Putting the language into practice
Simple café and restaurant exchanges provided a setting for those sounds. Repeating a whole phrase helped connect individual words with the rhythm of speech, while role play brought in the need to be understood by another person. Clear pronunciation was approached as a practical communication skill, with room to pause, listen and try again.

A practice idea to take further
Choose one short phrase, such as Un café, s’il vous plaît. Listen to a reliable audio model, repeat the whole phrase and record yourself. Work on one sound at a time rather than trying to change everything at once.
A short exercise is most useful when you return to it. Revisit the exchange on another day, change one detail and notice what you can say without checking your notes. Use any remaining hesitation to choose a question for your next lesson.
